JPG to PDF on a Mac (Finder, Preview or browser)
Quick answer: select the JPG (or several) in Finder, Control-click and choose Quick Actions > Create PDF. A PDF appears in the same folder, one image per page. For a single image you can also open it in Preview and choose File > Export as PDF. Use this page in Safari or Chrome when you need the pages in a set order, on A4 or US Letter with even margins, or HEIC and PNG mixed with JPG: add the images, drag them into order and click Create PDF. Nothing is uploaded, and it is free for up to 20 images.

Security & privacy detailsHow this tool helps
Convert your images into a PDF document instantly. Supports JPG, JPEG, PNG, WebP, BMP, GIF and iPhone HEIC photos. Add multiple images and each one becomes a page in the output PDF, in the order you add them (remove any with the cross before converting). Choose page size (A4, Letter, or fit to image), orientation (portrait or landscape), and margin size. Phone photos are placed the right way up: the tool reads the orientation your camera saved, so portrait shots don't come out sideways. Perfect for photo collections, scanned documents, receipts, or any images you need as one shareable PDF. The entire process runs in your browser, keeping your photos completely private. Use it when you need to use the main JPG to PDF tool, convert iPhone HEIC photos to PDF, combine multiple photos into one PDF.

JPG to PDF on a Mac: the three ways compared
macOS converts images to PDF without extra software. Which method is best depends on how many images you have and whether page order and page size matter.
How does Finder's Create PDF work?
Select one or more images in Finder, Control-click and choose Quick Actions > Create PDF. The new PDF is saved next to the images and named after the first one. Each page is the size of its image, so a mix of portrait and landscape photos gives a mix of page shapes.
How do I do it in Preview?
For one image, open it in Preview and choose File > Export as PDF. For several, select them in Finder and open them together in Preview, drag the thumbnails in the sidebar into order, then choose File > Print, set the paper size and choose Save as PDF from the PDF menu.
When is the browser tool the better choice?
When you need a fixed page size such as A4 for a form, no border or an even margin, a mix of JPG, PNG and iPhone HEIC photos, or the same steps on your iPhone and a Windows PC. Free use covers up to 20 images per PDF and 3 tasks a day.
What if the PDF is too large to send?
Photos from a phone camera are often 2MB to 5MB each, so the PDF adds up. Use Compress PDF with a target such as 2MB or 5MB if an email or portal rejects it; compression turns pages into images, which is fine for photos.
Before you upload/share
- Open the PDF and check every page before you send or upload it.
- Keep the original files until the recipient or portal has accepted the document.
Frequently asked questions
How do I turn a JPG into a PDF on a Mac?
Control-click the JPG in Finder and choose Quick Actions > Create PDF. Or open it in Preview and choose File > Export as PDF. Both are built into macOS.
How do I combine several JPGs into one PDF on a Mac?
Select them all in Finder, Control-click and choose Quick Actions > Create PDF. Number the file names first (01, 02, 03) so the pages come out in the order you expect, or use this page and drag them into order.
Why doesn't Create PDF appear in Quick Actions?
Choose Quick Actions > Customise (or More) and turn Create PDF on. It is in Finder on macOS Mojave and later.
Can I make every page A4?
Finder's Create PDF sizes each page to its image. To get A4 pages with even margins, use this tool and choose A4, or open the images in Preview and print to PDF with A4 paper.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. The images are read and built into a PDF by your browser on your own Mac. Nothing is sent to PDFWhisk.
