Security & privacy detailsHow this tool helps
Fill in a PDF without printing it. If the PDF is a fillable form, its fields are listed so you can type the answers, tick the boxes and choose from the drop-downs, with an option to flatten the form so the answers can't be changed. If it isn't, or a form has boxes without fields, tap anywhere on the page to add text, today's date, a tick or a cross, in four sizes and in black or blue. Drag what you added to move it, tap it to edit it or delete it. Text is drawn in Helvetica, which covers £, € and accented letters such as café. It works with a finger on a phone and with a mouse on a computer, and the PDF never leaves your device. Use it when you need to sign pdf, flatten pdf, protect pdf.

Filling in a PDF in your browser: practical notes
Some PDFs are proper forms with fields to type into; many are just printed forms saved as PDF. This tool handles both. These notes cover which is which, how to line text up with the boxes, and when to flatten.
Fillable form or flat page?
When you add the PDF, the tool looks for form fields. If it finds any, they are listed by name above the page with the answers already saved in them, and the page preview shows the boxes. If it finds none, the panel says so, and you add text by tapping the page. A form can be both: fill the fields it has, then tap to add anything for which it has no field.
Lining text up with a box
Tap just inside the left edge of the box, on the line where the text should sit: the tap marks the middle of the first line. Type in the Text box, then drag the text on the page to nudge it. If it is too big for the box, choose a smaller Size: Medium (12pt) suits most form boxes and Small (10pt) fits tight ones. Press Enter in the Text box for a second line, for example in an address box.
Dates, ticks and crosses
Date stamps today's date where you tap, as DD/MM/YYYY or written out, such as 4 November 2026; choose under Date style. Tick and Cross add a mark sized to the Size setting, for check boxes on a form without fields. All of them can be moved, resized, recoloured or deleted like text.
When to flatten
Flatten when the form goes to someone who shouldn't change the answers, or when their system shows filled forms as blank. Leave it unflattened if they will complete other sections. Text you tap onto the page is always part of the page, whether or not you flatten.
Black or blue
Some forms ask for black ink so they scan well, and a few ask for blue to tell the original from a copy. Choose the colour per item, before or after placing it.
Before you upload/share
- Open the saved copy and check every answer sits inside its box and nothing is cut off.
- Check dates are in the format the form asks for.
- Keep the blank original in case you need to start again.

Frequently asked questions
How do I fill in a PDF that has no boxes to type in?
Choose Text, tap the page where the answer should start and type it in the Text box below the page. It appears on the page as you type. Change Size if it doesn't fit the space, and drag it to line it up. Use Date for today's date and Tick or Cross for check boxes.
Can I fill in a fillable PDF form?
Yes. If the PDF has form fields, they are listed above the page by name: text boxes, tick boxes, drop-downs and option buttons. Type or choose your answers, then tap Save filled PDF. The answers go into the form's own fields, so other PDF apps can still read and change them unless you flatten the form.
What does Flatten the form do?
It merges the answers into the page, so they can no longer be edited and they look the same in every viewer, including ones that show filled forms as blank. Keep an unflattened copy if you may need to change an answer later.
Can I type a £ sign or accented letters?
Yes. Text is drawn in Helvetica with the Windows Latin character set, which includes £, € and accented letters such as é, ü and ñ, so £1,250.00 and café come out as typed. Characters outside that set, such as emoji or some Polish and Turkish letters, can't be drawn; the editor names any it finds and leaves them out.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. Tap the page to place text, then type in the Text box that opens below the page. Drag an item with a finger to move it. Swiping still scrolls the page; only a tap places text.
Can I sign the form as well?
This tool adds typed text, dates, ticks and crosses. For a signature, save the filled PDF and open it in Sign PDF, which places a drawn, typed or image signature.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. The PDF is read and filled in inside your browser tab. The page sends only a free-task counter and anonymous usage events (the tool name, never file names or contents). Free use covers files up to 50MB and 2 tasks a day.
